Over the years, David has returned to Iceland, Greenland, Norway and the Faroe Islands many times. Some of these expeditions have taken him to some of the far north’s most remote and demanding landscapes, where he has travelled alongside renowned photographers, mountaineers and guides such as Benjamin Hardman and Siggi Bjarni. Most recently, he ventured into Svalbard on an expedition with German photographers Daniel Ernst and Natascha Klein, reaching 79 degrees north.
Inspired by nature and winter’s icy breath, David has found a sense of belonging in dark, moody and melancholic imagery. Over time, he has refined a distinctive visual language that has drawn the attention of established artists around the world and led to ongoing collaborations with Sony Switzerland on selected projects. His photographs move through darkness, stillness and hope, shaping visual tales of melancholy and bittersweetness.
David grew up in a musical family and, in addition to his photography, is an established drummer who has played sessions with national and international artists. He is a proud endorser of TAMA drums and Sabian cymbals, and performs live worldwide with his own band, glaston.
