Sailing expeditions on the wooden schooner Opal through the Scoresbysund fjord system in eastern Greenland. The journey began in Ittoqqortoormiit, one of the most isolated towns in Greenland, before carrying us past the unfathomably beautiful Sun Glacier, where icebergs are born, and deeper into Øfjord, Harefjord, Bear Island, and Red Island.
Sailing through Scoresbysund felt like drifting through a sea of frozen stars. Glacier tongues wrapped around rugged mountains, while icebergs moved through the fjords with quiet, crackling sounds, held in the softness of Arctic light. Feeling small in a wooden schooner among mountains and glacier walls: humbled by nature, and probably the best trip of my life.
