SVALBARD
The farthest north a trip has ever taken me. A photo series captured during a sailing expedition through Svalbard, from Longyearbyen and Isfjorden all the way north to Ny-Ålesund, almost at 79 degrees north.
With 24 hours of daylight, the days were filled with sailing, hikes, glacier landings, rough seas, and mist-painted fjords. Svalbard showed itself from its darker side as we sailed north through gray skies, fog, and heavy weather. Only towards the end of the expedition did the skies finally clear, letting the sun paint some color across the high Arctic.
